Green tourism (or rural)
Green tourism is to holiday in the countryside. In France, the rural area has 80% of the territory and affects about 23% of the population.
This is the second destination for summer vacations, and attendance is growing steadily since 1993. The holidays Rural no longer correspond to an exclusively economic choice.

The mountain tourism (or white in winter)
It is tourism in the mountains. The French mountain area covers about 1/5 of the territory. The French mountain massifs 7 includes: the Northern Alps, Southern Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central, Jura, Vosges and Corsica. In Europe, France ranks first for the ski area: 11,800 square km (Italy 1350, Austria 1050, Switzerland 959 square miles), or 30% of the global area. There are 308 stations and 4009 ski centers and ski lifts for downhill skiing.
The capacity of the French stations exceeds 2 million beds (58% located in the Alps). Second homes account for 54% of this capacity, followed furnished (22%), group accommodation (8%) and graded hotels (5%).
The mountain is marked by very high traffic peaks during the Christmas holidays, February and Easter and generally by a double seasonality.
38% of the French go on winter vacation, but only 8.3% for winter sports and 7.7% practice skiing. From mountain holidays in French does not progress, and the average length of stay is down: this is explained by the high price of stays.
